and his name is Muḥammad, so Muslim included him in "al-Shawāhid," and he is considered reliable in ḥadīth. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration reported by Tamīm ibn Yazīd, the client of Banū Zamʿah, from a man among the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) delivered a sermon to us one day, then said: and he mentioned something similar. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/362) from ʿUthmān, meaning Ibn Ḥakīm, from him, and its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for this Tamīm. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him in his book (1/1/442) without any criticism or endorsement, and Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (1/5), but he mentioned Anas ibn Mālik instead of a man with companionship. Then I saw that the ḥadīth was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/357) from the first route from Abū Hurayrah and from the route of Abū Wāqid from Isḥāq, the client of Zāʾidah, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Thawbān, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: "Whoever safeguards what is between his jaws and his legs will enter Paradise." And he said: "The isnād is authentic, and Abū Wāqid is Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: This Ṣāliḥ, al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": his condition is moderate, then he mentioned the statements of the imams about him, all agreeing on his weakness except for Aḥmad's statement to come, and he included him in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" and said: "Aḥmad said: I see no harm in him, and al-Dāraquṭnī and a group said he is weak." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak." I said: Someone like him can be used as supporting evidence, if Allāh wills.
