"except for Aḥmad ibn Rushdīn..." for he is not among the men of the authentic [collections] but rather one of the weak teachers of al-Ṭabarānī! Al-Haythamī often makes such misleading generalizations, so be mindful of them, and you will, by the will of Allāh, be saved from error.

"A Muslim is a brother to a Muslim; he does not oppress him nor abandon him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allāh will fulfill his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim of a distress, Allāh will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever conceals a Muslim, Allāh will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection." Narrated by al-Bukhārī (2/98), Abū Dāwūd (4893), al-Tirmidhī (1/268), and Aḥmad (2/91) from al-Layth from ʿUqayl from Ibn Shihāb that Sālim informed him that ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar informed him that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. The context is from al-Bukhārī, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A good, authentic ḥadīth." The first sentence of it is with Muslim (8/10-11) and al-Tirmidhī (1/350), and he graded it good from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah. It is also with Abū Dāwūd (4918) but with the wording "The believer is a brother to the believer." It is also with him (3356) from the ḥadīth of Suwayd ibn Ḥanẓalah with the first wording, and with al-Tirmidhī (2/183) and others from the ḥadīth of ʿAmr ibn al-Aḥwaṣ and Aḥmad (5/24/71) from the ḥadīth of a man from Banī Sulaym. (Note) Al-Mundhirī included this ḥadīth in "al-Targhīb" from the narration of Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī only from Ibn ʿUmar, which is a severe shortcoming as he missed that it is in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī." Even more severe is that al-Suyūṭī included the first sentence of it from the narration of Abū Dāwūd from Suwayd ibn Ḥanẓalah! He missed that it is with the two Shaykhs and others we mentioned from a group of the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), thus necessitating this clarification.
