and the ḥadīth was mentioned in its entirety, including the addition found with Abū Dāwūd, the author of "Muntakhab Kanz al-ʿUmmāl" (2/207). He said: It was narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah and Abū Saʿīd al-Naqqāsh in "al-Quḍāt." The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration with the wording: "I am only a human being. What I tell you from Allāh is true, and what I say from my own self, I am only a human being who may be right or wrong." It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (p. 27): Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Aṣbahānī narrated to us, Ḥusayn ibn Ḥafṣ narrated to us, Khaṭṭāb ibn Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīrah narrated from his father, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was walking among the palm trees in Medina, and people began to say: 'There is a measure in it.' The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: 'There is such and such in it.' They said: 'Allāh and His Messenger have spoken the truth.' The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) then mentioned it." Al-Bazzār said: "We do not know it to be narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās except through this isnād." Al-Haythamī said: "Its isnād is good except that I have not seen a biography for al-Bazzār's shaykh." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "I said: He is the well-known ḥāfiẓ Samawayh, mentioned by Abū Nuʿaym in 'his History,' and he was deemed reliable by Ibn Mandah, Abū al-Shaykh, Abū Nuʿaym, and others."

- "Wretched and lost is the servant who does not have Allāh's mercy for humanity in his heart."
