"Has not Allāh made for you what you can give in charity? Indeed, every glorification is charity, every magnification is charity, every praise is charity, every declaration of the oneness of Allāh is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and in the intimate act of one of you is charity." They said, "Does one of us fulfill his desire and there is reward in it for him?" He said, "Do you not see that if he were to place it in the unlawful, there would be sin upon him? Likewise, if he places it in the lawful, there is reward for him." It was recorded by Muslim (3/82), al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (35), and Aḥmad (5/167) from Abū al-Aswad al-Dīlī from Abū Dharr: "Some people from the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): 'O Messenger of Allāh, the wealthy have taken all the rewards; they pray as we pray, fast as we fast, and give charity from the excess of their wealth.' He said," and then he mentioned it. It has other chains with similar wording, both abridged and extended, so refer to "Your smile in the face of your brother," "Your removal of a bone," and "Upon every soul," and "Every joint."
"You bring your disputes to me, and I am only a human being. Perhaps some of you are more eloquent in presenting their case than others, and I judge according to what I hear from you. So, if I judge for someone to have something from his brother's right, let him not take it, for I am granting him a piece of the Fire which he will bring on the Day of Resurrection." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (3/162), Muslim (5/129), al-Nasāʾī (2/307, 311), and al-Tirmidhī (1/250-251), and authenticated by Ibn Mājah (2/51)
