"The ears are part of the head." This is an authentic ḥadīth with many chains from a group of Companions, including Abū Umāmah, Abū Hurayrah, Ibn ʿAmr, Ibn ʿAbbās, ʿĀʾishah, Abū Mūsá, Anas, Samurah ibn Jundub, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah, there are three chains from him: the first is from Sinān ibn Rabīʿah from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab from Abū Umāmah, elevated [to the Prophet]. It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, Ibn Mājah, al-Dāraquṭnī, and al-Bayhaqī, as well as Aḥmad (5/285/268) and al-Ṭaḥāwī, all from Ḥammād ibn Zayd from Sinān with it.
