Muṣʿab ibn Thābit from Abū Ḥāzim from Sahl ibn Saʿd in a marfūʿ form. Al-Haythamī mentioned it in "al-Majmaʿ" in two places (8/87, 10/273) with the wording: "The believer is friendly and is befriended, and does not... etc." He said in the first of them: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī, and in it is Muṣʿab ibn Thābit, whom Ibn Ḥibbān and others deemed trustworthy, while Ibn Maʿīn and others weakened him, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy." He said in the other: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī and its isnād is good." Thus he said. And in "al-Taqrīb": "Muṣʿab ibn Thābit is lenient in ḥadīth, and he was a devout worshiper." I said: He was contradicted in its isnād, as al-Khaṭīb said after citing it: "It was narrated by Khālid ibn Waḍḍāḥ from Abū Ḥāzim from Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." Al-Khaṭīb connected it (8/288-289) saying: "Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik informed us, ʿUmar ibn Aḥmad al-Wāʿiẓ informed us, al-Ḥurr ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Ishkāb informed us, al-Zubayr ibn Bakkār informed us, Khālid ibn Waḍḍāḥ reported it." And this Khālid, I did not find anyone who translated him, and the rest of its narrators are all trustworthy. As for Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik, al-Khaṭīb said (2/349): "We wrote from him and he was truthful."
