and his teacher's name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥayriz. Shuʿbah was opposed by Bilāl ibn Yaḥyá al-ʿAbsī, who said: from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ from Ibn Muḥayriz from Ibn Muḥayriz from Thābit ibn al-Ṣamṭ from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit with it. It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/331) and Aḥmad (5/318) through the route of Saʿd ibn Aws al-Kātib from Bilāl ibn Yaḥyá al-ʿAbsī. This isnād also has trustworthy men, but Shuʿbah is more reliable and more well-known than Bilāl ibn Yaḥyá, so his narration is more authentic. Then I found the ḥadīth in "Musnad al-Ṭayālisī" (no. 586): Shuʿbah narrated it with the same content except he said: "from a man among the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) or men among the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." This ḥadīth was also narrated from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ from Ibn Muḥayriz from Ziyād ibn al-Ṣamṭ from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). The ḥadīth has a corroborating report from Abū Mālik al-Ashʿarī, mentioned earlier (no. 91) with the wording: "People will certainly drink...." And a second corroborating report from Abū Umāmah with the wording: "The nights and days will not pass away." We mentioned it under ḥadīth (90). There is a third corroborating report from ʿĀʾishah in "al-Mustadrak" (4/147) and it was mentioned there previously.

- "If the servant of one of you prepares food for him, relieving him of its heat and cold, let him sit with him. If he refuses, then let him give him a bite in his hand."
