and Suwayd ibn Naṣr is trustworthy. ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq corroborated him, saying: ʿAbd Allāh informed us of it. Muḥammad ibn Bakr also corroborated them, saying: Yūnus informed us of it. It was narrated by Aḥmad (6/118-119, 119), so the ḥadīth is authentic according to their criteria, and Ibn Ḥibbān authenticated it (231). I said: This is a rare and good ḥadīth, which includes the sunnah of washing the hands before eating, thus it suffices instead of the well-known ḥadīth in the chapter with the wording: "The blessing of food is in washing before and after it." We have discussed it in "al-Aḥādīth al-Ḍaʿīfah" (no. 168).

- "When one of you eats food, he should not wipe his hand until he licks it or has it licked, and he should not lift the dish until he licks it or has it licked, for the blessing is in the last portion of the food." It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (Q 60/1 - al-Walīmah): Yūsuf ibn Saʿīd informed us, saying: Ḥajjāj narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Abū al-Zubayr informed me, saying: I heard Jābir say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic, all its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Yūsuf ibn Saʿīd, who is Ibn Muslim al-Maṣīṣī, and he is a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ
