It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (3320) and al-Ḥākim as a witness, who said: "The isnād is authentic!" However, al-Dhahabī refuted this, saying: "I say: ʿAbd Allāh is weak." Al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (200/1): "This isnād is weak due to the weakness of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd al-Maqburī." I say: Rather, he is abandoned as al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so such a narration is not used as evidence. 4 - The ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās. Al-Haythamī mentioned it in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/43) with the wording: "Season with the tree, meaning oil, and whoever is offered perfume should take from it." He said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ,' and in it is al-Naḍr ibn Ṭāhir, who is weak." I say: The first sentence of it has appeared in some routes of the ḥadīth of ʿUmar and Abū Usayd with the wording: "Season with oil." The other sentence appeared in a ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah with an authentic isnād according to the conditions of Muslim, which I recorded in "al-Mishkāt" (3016). In summary, the ḥadīth, with the combined routes of ʿUmar and the route of Abū Saʿīd, reaches the level of ḥasan li-ghayrihi at the very least, and Allāh knows best. It suffices for the virtue of oil the saying of Allāh ﵎: "(Lit from a blessed tree, an olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire)" (Sūrah al-Nūr, verse 35). Oil has important benefits, some of which were mentioned by the scholar Ibn al-Qayyim in "Zād al-Maʿād," so whoever wishes may refer to it.
