al-Dhahabī critiqued it by saying: "I said: ʿUqbah is weak." I said: But Qatādah followed him as mentioned earlier, so the ḥadīth is authentic.

"Seek refuge in Allāh from this (meaning the moon), for it is the darkening one when it becomes dark." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/241), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (2/310), Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (no. 642), al-Ḥākim (2/540-541), al-Ṭayālisī (no. 1486), and Aḥmad (6/61, 206, 237) through various chains from Ibn Abī Dhiʾb from his uncle al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Abū Salamah from ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā). The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) took her hand and pointed to the moon and said: and he mentioned it. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." And al-Ḥākim: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, who is al-Qurashī al-ʿĀmirī, and he is truthful as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." Ibn Abī Dhiʾb was paired with: al-Mundhir ibn Abī al-Mundhir. It was narrated by Aḥmad (6/215, 252) from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿAmr from him. And al-Mundhir is acceptable as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." Thus, the ḥadīth is authentic
