his sin, purify his heart, and protect his chastity. After that, the young man did not turn to anything." This is a sound isnād, all of its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the authentic collections.

- "Do not say to the hypocrite 'our master,' for if he is your master, you have angered your Lord." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (2/311), al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (112), Aḥmad (5/346-347), Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (385), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (2/58/2), and by Nuʿaym ibn Ḥammād in "Zawāʾid al-Zuhd" (186) from Muʿādh ibn Hishām, who reported from his father, from Qatādah, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah, from his father, in a marfūʿ form. This is a sound isnād according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs. Al-Mundhirī said (4/21): "It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasāʾī with a sound isnād." I said: I did not find it with al-Nasāʾī, and al-Nābulusī did not attribute it to him in "al-Dhakhāʾir" (1/122), so it appears that it is in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā." Then the ḥadīth was narrated by ʿUqbah ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Aṣamm from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah with the wording: "If a man says to the hypocrite: 'O master,' he has angered his Lord." It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/198), al-Ḥākim (4/311), and al-Khaṭīb (5/454), and al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic."
