- "He sold his Hereafter for his worldly life. This was said to a man who sold for a price he had sworn not to sell at." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1099): ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Bukhārī informed us—in Baghdad—Yaʿqūb ibn Ḥumayd ibn Kāsib narrated to us, Ibn Fudayk narrated to us from Rabīʿah ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Hudayr from Abū Saʿīd who said: "A Bedouin passed by with a sheep, and I said: 'Will you sell it for three dirhams?' He replied: 'No, by Allāh,' then he sold it. I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said," and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is good, all its narrators are trustworthy, from the men of "al-Tahdhīb" except for ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Bukhārī, who is trustworthy and mentioned in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (9/481).

- "Attend the remembrance and draw near to the imam, for a man continues to distance himself until he is delayed in Paradise, even if he enters it." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (1198) and al-Ḥākim (1/289), and from them al-Bayhaqī (3/238) and Aḥmad (5/11) through the route of Muʿādh ibn Hishām who said: I found in my father's book in his own handwriting—and I did not hear it from him: Qatādah said: from Yaḥyá ibn Mālik from Samurah ibn Jundub that the Prophet of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Thus they said, and this Yaḥyá ibn Mālik has been overlooked by all who compiled works on the men of the six [canonical collections] as far as we know, for he is not in "al-Tahdhīb," nor in "al-Taqrīb," nor in "al-Tadhhīb."
