- "A time will soon come when a man will wish he had fallen from the Pleiades rather than having been in charge of the affairs of the people." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (4/91) through the route of ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdalah from Yazīd ibn Sharīk that al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn Qays sent him with a garment to Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam. Marwān said to the doorkeeper, "See who is at the door." He said, "Abū Hurayrah." So he was granted permission, and he said, "O Abū Hurayrah, tell us a ḥadīth you heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say," and he mentioned it. He [al-Ḥākim] said, "Its isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: It is only ḥasan due to the well-known disagreement regarding the memory of this ʿĀṣim, and al-Dhahabī himself, when he wrote about him in "al-Mīzān," and mentioned the statements of the imams about him, said: "I say: He is ḥasan in ḥadīth."

- "It is not permissible for the caliph to have more than two bowls: a bowl he eats from with his family, and a bowl he feeds others from." It was narrated by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Waraʿ" (168/2): Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mundhir al-Ḥizāmī told us, saying: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb informed us from Ibn Lahīʿah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Hubayrah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zurayr al-Ghāfiqī who said:
