he returned it to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)? He said: "Feed it to the draft animal, and put it in its stomach." Reported by Aḥmad. And this Abū ʿUfayr is not known; he is mentioned in "al-Taʿjīl". Muḥammad ibn Ayyūb corroborated it: that a man from the Anṣār told him, named Muḥayṣah; he had a servant who was a cupper, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade him from his earnings. He said: Should I not feed it to my orphans? He said: "No." He said: Should I not give it in charity? He said: "No," but he permitted him to feed it to his draft animal. Reported by Aḥmad (5/436): narrated by ʿAbd al-Ṣamad: narrated by Hishām from (1) Yaḥyá from Muḥammad ibn Ayyūb with it. I say: And this isnād is weak; this Muḥammad is not known. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (3/2/197) with this ḥadīth, and said: "I asked my father about him, and he said: He is unknown." And it was noted that Ḥudayj ibn Ṣawmā also narrated from him, and al-Dhahabī mentioned him in "al-Mīzān" with his narration and also said: "Unknown."
