that he instructed a man, when he took his place of rest, to say: ... and he mentioned it; a man then asked him: Did you hear this from ʿUmar? He replied: From someone better than ʿUmar! From the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). And the context is from Muslim. *

(O Allāh! I make a covenant with You that You will not break it for me, for I am only human; so if I have harmed, insulted, cursed, or struck any of the believers, then make it a prayer, purification, and means of nearness to You for them on the Day of Resurrection). It was recorded by Muslim (8/25), and Aḥmad (2/243 and 449) through the route of al-Aʿraj from Abū Hurayrah that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. There are other routes from Abū Hurayrah: 1- Among them: from Sālim, the client of the Naṣriyyīn, who said: I heard Abū Hurayrah say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. Recorded by Muslim, and Aḥmad (2/493). 2- From Abū Ṣāliḥ from him in a summarized form. Also recorded by Muslim, and Aḥmad (2/488 and 496), as well as al-Dārimī (2/314-315). 3- From Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib from him. Recorded by Muslim with some abridgment. And in al-Bukhārī (6361) from it is his saying: "O Allāh! So whichever believer I have insulted, make that a means of nearness to You on the Day of Resurrection."
