I said: It has another, more complete chain; it is narrated by al-Masʿūdī from ʿĀṣim ibn Kulayb from his father from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "I came out to you and the Night of Decree and the False Messiah were made clear to me. There was a dispute between two men at the entrance of the mosque, so I went to them to resolve it, and I forgot them. I will inform you clearly: As for the Night of Decree, seek it in the odd nights of the last ten [nights of Ramadan]. As for the False Messiah, he is blind in one eye, with a prominent forehead, broad neck, and a hump as if he is Qatan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿUzzá." He said: O Messenger of Allāh! Does his resemblance harm me? He said: "No, you are a Muslim man, and he is a disbelieving man." It was recorded by Aḥmad in "al-Musnad" (2/291) through two chains from al-Masʿūdī. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy; however, al-Masʿūdī had become confused. *

(I was shown you in a dream twice; and a man was carrying you in a piece of silk, saying: This is your wife. I said: If this is from Allāh, He will make it happen). It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/41, 128, 161) - and this wording is his -, al-Bukhārī (3895, 5078, 5125, 7011, 7012), Muslim (7/134), Ibn Ḥibbān (7051), Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (8/64, 67), al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (2/410), al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (12/236), and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (5/428/2940) from the ḥadīth of Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to me: ... and he mentioned it. The wording of the others is like that of Aḥmad - and among them al-Bukhārī in a narration -; but in one of his narrations; which is numbered (5078, 5125) with the wording: "I was shown you in a dream; the angel brings you."
