and the number "three" does not have a specific implication; due to the ḥadīths referred to; you may review them in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb" (3/ Book of Knowledge). (Note): The fourth characteristic is missing from the narration of al-Ṭabarānī, but it is confirmed in the narration of Ibn Abī al-Dunyā. Similarly, the word "for the dead" was altered in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" to "for the living"!! (I was shown the Night of Decree, then I was made to forget it, and I saw myself prostrating in water and mud on its morning). Narrated by Muslim (3/173), and al-Bayhaqī (4/309) through the route of Busrah ibn Saʿīd from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Anīs that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it; he said: It rained on the night of the twenty-third, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) led us in prayer, then departed; and there was the trace of water and mud on his forehead and nose. *
