(If there are three [people] on a journey, let one of them lead the prayer, and the one most deserving of leading is the one who is most knowledgeable of the Qur'an). It was recorded by Muslim (2/33), al-Dārimī (286), al-Nasāʾī (1/153), Ibn Khuzaymah (3/4/1508), Ibn Ḥibbān (3/287/2129), al-Bayhaqī (3/119), al-Ṭayālisī (386/2152), and through his route: also by al-Bayhaqī, Ibn Abī Shaybah (1/343), and Aḥmad (3/24, 34, 36, 48, 51, 84), all from various routes from Qatādah from Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said:... and he mentioned it. The addition is from Ibn Ḥibbān and al-Ṭayālisī through the route of Shuʿbah and Hishām from Qatādah. *

(If any of you arrives at a place, let him say: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allāh from the evil of what He has created; for nothing will harm him until he departs from there). It was recorded by Muslim (8/76), al-Dārimī (289), al-Tirmidhī (10/133) - and he authenticated it -, al-Nasāʾī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (560 and 561), Ibn Mājah (2/1174/3547), Ibn Ḥibbān (4/167/2689), al-Bayhaqī (5/253), and Aḥmad (6/377), all from Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ from Khawlah bint Ḥakīm who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. And some of them in their narration said: "Whoever arrives at a place." Al-Suyūṭī mentioned it with this wording in "al-Ziyādah ʿalá al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" narrated by Aḥmad, Muslim, and al-Tirmidhī from Khawlah, and the narration of al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿĀʾish. *
