and the other is from Mūsá ibn Ṭalḥah from his father. It was narrated by Muslim, Ibn Mājah (2470), and Aḥmad (1/162). (Note): Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Suyūṭī, in "al-Ziyādah ʿalá al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr," differentiated between the narration of Muslim, attributing it to Anas, and the narration of Ibn Mājah, attributing it to Anas and ʿĀʾishah!! This differentiation has no basis as you can see. *

(Gather together, for I will recite to you one-third of the Quran. So those who gathered, gathered, then the Prophet of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out and recited: (Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One") Verily, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.) It was narrated by Muslim (2/200), al-Tirmidhī (2900) - who authenticated it - and Aḥmad (2/429) from the route of Abū Ḥāzim from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it up to the point: "I will recite to you one-third of the Quran"; and he added: So those who gathered, gathered, then the Prophet of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out and recited (Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One"), then he went back in. Some of us said to others: I think this is news that came to him from the heavens, and that is what made him go back in, then the Prophet of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out and said: "I told you: I will recite to you one-third of the Quran. Verily, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran." The context is from Muslim. Al-Ṭaḥāwī narrated it in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (2/80) from this route in a summarized form. Ibn Mājah narrated from it through another route from Abū Hurayrah: "(Say, 'He is Allāh, [who is] One') is equivalent to one-third of the Quran." *
