its fruits were like large jars. He said: when it was covered by what covered it from the command of Allāh, it changed, and none of the creation of Allāh can describe it due to its beauty. Then Allāh revealed to me what He revealed, and He enjoined upon me fifty prayers every day and night. So I descended to Mūsá (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said: What has your Lord enjoined upon your nation? I said: Fifty prayers. He said: Return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction, for your nation will not be able to bear that; indeed, I have tested the Children of Israel and experienced them. He said: So I returned to my Lord and said: O Lord! Reduce it for my nation. So He reduced it by five. I returned to Mūsá and said: He reduced it by five. He said: Your nation will not be able to bear that; return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction. He said: I continued to return between my Lord and Mūsá until He said: O Muḥammad! They are five prayers every day and night, for each prayer is tenfold; that is fifty prayers. And whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, a good deed is written for him; if he does it, ten are written for him. And whoever intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, nothing is written; if he does it, one bad deed is written. He said: So I descended until I reached Mūsá (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him. He said: Return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: I said: I have returned to my Lord until I am ashamed before Him.
