it was recorded by Ibn Shāhīn in "al-Targhīb wa-al-Tarhīb" (p. 317/1). I said: And this Muḥammad is Ibn ʿĪsá ibn al-Qāsim ibn Samīʿ, with the diminutive. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful, but makes mistakes and practices tadlīs." Among them is Rūḥ ibn ʿUbādah who narrated to us from Thawr ibn Yazīd. It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (5/217-218) and in "Aḥādīth Abī al-Qāsim al-Aṣamm" (12/2) from Muḥammad ibn Yūnus al-Kudaymī who narrated to us from Rūḥ ibn ʿUbādah. I said: Al-Kudaymī is accused, and in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak." I said: But he was not alone in this, as Abū Nuʿaym said after him: "It is rare from the narration of Khālid, exclusively narrated by Thawr, narrated by Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, and the elders from Rūḥ." I said: With the corroboration of Aḥmad and others, the ḥadīth is authentic. All praise is due to Allāh. It has a supporting narration from Abū al-Dardāʾ, raised similarly. It was recorded by Ibn Dūst in "al-Amālī" (p. 118/2) through two routes from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ who said: Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to me from Abū al-Zāhiriyyah from him. I said: This isnād is acceptable in supporting narrations; all its men are trustworthy, men of the Ṣaḥīḥ.
