meaning the phrase: "the truth," but its meaning is correct, as the collective narrations of the ḥadīth testify, as is apparent. The first part of the ḥadīth: (piety and justice) has other chains in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" and elsewhere, and I have documented some of them in "al-Irwāʾ" (6/41-42). The intention here was to focus on documenting the second part of it and to ascertain its status, and it has become clear that it is authentic. All praise is due to Allāh, by whose grace good deeds are completed.

(Reviling a Muslim is disobedience, and fighting him is disbelief, and the sanctity of his wealth is like the sanctity of his blood). This is from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, and there are two chains from him: the first is from Ibrāhīm al-Hijrī from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ from him, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/416). Ibrāhīm is lenient in ḥadīth, but it is strengthened by what follows. And through his chain: Abū Nuʿaym recorded the part about sanctity in "al-Ḥilyah," and I have documented it with other chains—some of which will be mentioned shortly—in "Ghayat al-Maram" (203-204/345). The other chain is from Layth ibn Abī Sulaym from Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif from Masrūq from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it.
