from Wāṣil ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlá and others, from Ibn Faḍīl, from his father, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. It was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá (6171), and from him by Ibn Ḥibbān (6697) through Wāṣil with it. (Note): The wording of Ibn Ḥibbān: "in this I was cut off"! differing from the narration of Abū Yaʿlá, his teacher, in this very ḥadīth, and the narration of Muslim and others, including al-Tirmidhī; and he said: "This is a ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ gharīb ḥadīth, we do not know it except through this route." and al-Baghawī said: "This is a ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." *

- (Three things, when they appear; "no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before, or gained goodness in its faith": the rising of the sun from the west, the Dajjāl, and the Beast of the Earth). Narrated by Muslim (1/95-96), al-Tirmidhī (3072), Abū ʿAwānah (1/107), Ibn Abī Shaybah (15/178), Aḥmad (2/445), Abū Yaʿlá (6170 and 6172), Ibn Mandah in "al-Īmān" (1023), Abū ʿAmr al-Dānī in "al-Sunan al-Wāridah fī al-Fitan" (695), and al-Ṭabarī in "Tafsīr" (8/76) through various routes from Faḍīl ibn Ghazwān, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." (Note): In the edition of "al-Musnad," instead of "the Dajjāl," it appears as "the smoke"! And I do not see it except as a scribal error. *
