- (Indeed, they used to name [their children] after their prophets and the righteous who came before them). Narrated by Muslim (7/171) from the path of Simāk ibn Ḥarb from ʿAlqamah ibn Wāʾil from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah who said: When I arrived in Najrān, they asked me, saying: You recite: (O sister of Aaron), while Moses was before Jesus by such and such [years]?! So when I came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam); I asked him about that, and he said: ... and he mentioned it. It was also narrated by al-Tirmidhī (3155), and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Kubrā" (11315), and Aḥmad (4/252), and Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (6250 - al-Iḥsān), and al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (3362) and in "Tafsīr" (5/229), and al-Ṭabarī in "Tafsīr" (16/59), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (20/Number 986), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Dalāʾil" (5/393) from paths from Simāk with it.

- (They gave me the choice between asking me with obscenity or accusing me of being stingy; and I am not stingy). Narrated by Muslim (3/103), and Aḥmad (1/20 and 35) from three paths from al-Aʿmash from Abū Wāʾil from Salmān ibn Rabīʿah who said: ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) distributed a share, so I said: By Allāh, O Messenger of Allāh! Others were more deserving of it than them? He said: ... and he mentioned it. The addition is for Aḥmad in the second place. There was a difference of opinion on al-Aʿmash regarding it:
