As for the ḥadīth of Zayd, it is through the route of Shuʿbah from ʿAdī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd from Zayd ibn Thābit (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu): "What is [the matter] with you concerning the hypocrites, [that you are] two groups?" Some people from the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) returned from Uḥud, and the people were divided into two groups; one group said: "Kill them," and another group said: "No," so it was revealed: "What is [the matter] with you concerning the hypocrites, [that you are] two groups?" and he said: ... and mentioned it. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4589), who said: Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to me: Ghundar and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, they said: Shuʿbah narrated it. And it was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (1) (3028), and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Kubrā" (1113) - from Muḥammad ibn Bashshār -, and Aḥmad (5/188) - from Fayāḍ ibn Muḥammad -, both of them from Ghundar from Shuʿbah with it.
