I went early to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) one day. He said: He heard the voices of two men who disagreed about a verse, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us, and anger was visible on his face; he said: ... and mentioned it. *
هجّرتُ إلى رسول الله ﷺ يوماً قال: فسمع أصوات رجلين اختلفا في آية، فخرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ- يُعرفُ في وجهه الغضب -؛ فقال: ... فذكره. *

- (A man who was not with us when you invited us has followed us; if you permit him, he may enter). It comes from the ḥadīth of Abū Masʿūd al-Badrī and Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh. As for the ḥadīth of Abū Masʿūd, it was narrated by al-Bukhārī (5434 and 5461), Muslim (6/115-116), al-Tirmidhī (1099) - and this wording is his -, al-Dārimī (2/105-106), Abū ʿAwānah (5/373-375), Ibn Ḥibbān (5276), and Aḥmad (4/121) through various chains from al-Aʿmash from Abū Wāʾil from Abū Masʿūd al-Badrī al-Anṣārī who said: A man, called Abū Shuʿayb, came to his servant who was a butcher and said: Prepare food for me that will suffice for five, for I saw hunger on the face of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). He said: So he prepared food, then sent for the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and invited him and those sitting with him. When the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) stood up, a man who was not with them when they were invited followed them. When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) reached the door, he said to the owner of the house: ... and mentioned it. He said: We have permitted him; let him enter. As for the ḥadīth of Jābir, it was narrated by Muslim (6/116) - without the wording -, Abū ʿAwānah (5/375), and Aḥmad (3/353) through the route of ʿAmmār ibn Ruzayq. And also by Muslim - without the wording -, Abū ʿAwānah also, and Aḥmad (3/396) through the route of Zuhayr: both from al-Aʿmash from Abū Sufyān from Jābir. *
