then it was also narrated by him (3/85), as well as by Muslim and others through the route of Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī alone with the wording: "Eat, feed others, and store." There are many ḥadīths with this meaning, and I have included some of them in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (2503), and "al-Irwāʾ" (4/369-370), and some were previously mentioned in "al-Ṣaḥīḥah" (2969). For this reason, I decided to include the ḥadīth of the chapter in "al-Ṣaḥīḥah" as well.*

(If something is granted for a lifetime, it belongs to the one granted it; during his life and after his death, and do not make conditional gifts; for whoever makes a conditional gift, it follows the path of inheritance. In another narration: it follows the path of inheritance). Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (3559), al-Nasāʾī (2/135), Ibn Mājah (2381) in a shortened form, as well as Ibn Ḥibbān (1149 and 1150), Aḥmad (5/182, 186, and 189), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (5/179-182) through various routes from Ḥujr al-Mudariyy from Zayd ibn Thābit who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic. It has a corroborating narration from Jābir with Muslim and others, and it is included in "al-Irwāʾ" (1607-1609). (Benefit): Abū Dāwūd (3560) narrated with a good isnād from Mujāhid who said: "(al-ʿUmrá): is when a man says to another man: It is yours as long as you live. And (al-Ruqbá): is when a person says: It is for the one who outlives the other between me and you." Abū al-Ḥasan al-Sindī said in "Ḥāshiyat al-Nasāʾī": "(al-Ruqbá) is on the pattern of (ḥublá), and its form is: when one says: I have made this house for you,
(من أُعْمِر شيئاً فهو لمُعمَرِهِ؛ محياهُ ومماتهُ، ولا ترقبوا؛ فمن أرقب شيئاً؛ فهو سبيله. وفي رواية: سبيلُ الميراث) .أخرجه أبو داود (٣٥٥٩) ، والنسائي (٢/١٣٥) ، وابن ماجه (٢٣٨١) مختصراً-، وكذا ابن حبان (١١٤٩ و١١٥٠) ، وأحمد (٥/١٨٢ و١٨٦ و١٨٩) ، والطبراني في"المعجم الكبير" (٥/١٧٩- ١٨٢) من طرق عن حُجر المدريّ عن زيد بن ثابت قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: ... فذكره. قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح. وله شاهد من حديث جابر عند مسلم وغيره، وهو مخرج في " الإرواء " (١٦٠٧- ١٦٠٩) . (فائدة) : روى أبو داود (٣٥٦٠) بسند جيد عن مجاهد قال:" (العمرى) : أن يقول الرجل للرجل: هو لك ما عشت. و (الرقبى) : هو أن يقول الإنسان: هو للآخر مني ومنك ". وقال أبو الحسن السندي في "حاشية النسائي":" (الرّقبى) على وزن (حُبلى) ، وصورتها: أن يقول: جعلت لك هذه الدار،
