and Abū ʿAbd Allāh: he is al-Būshanjī. A similar narration is reported in "al-Asmāʾ" from Imām Aḥmad. And there is no doubt that what is meant is the one who carries the Qurʾān, memorizes it, and recites it for the sake of Allāh alone, seeking no reward or thanks except from Allāh. Otherwise, it is as Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān—who is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd al-Muqriʾ—said, as found in "Musnad Abī Yaʿlá": "Its interpretation is that whoever gathers the Qurʾān, then enters the Fire; he is worse than a pig." *

(When one of you offers a sacrifice, let him eat from his sacrifice), recorded by Aḥmad (2/391), Ibn ʿAdī (88/1-2), and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (7/34) through two chains from al-Ḥasan ibn Ṣāliḥ from Ibn Abī Laylá from ʿAṭāʾ from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is weak, all its men are trustworthy according to Muslim, except Ibn Abī Laylá—his name is Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Kūfī, the judge and jurist—al-Dhahabī listed him in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" and said: "Truthful but poor in memory..." And al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but very poor in memory." Abū Zurʿah and Abū Ḥātim criticized it for being mursal, as reported by Ibn Abī Ḥātim in "al-ʿIlal" (2/38 and 41)! The one who connected it is trustworthy, so the defect is as I mentioned. And if you understand this, then the statement of al-Haythamī (4/25)—followed by al-Munāwī—"Aḥmad narrated it and its men are the men of (al-Ṣaḥīḥ)"!
