(You are like the one who said first: O Allāh! Grant me a beloved who is dearer to me than myself). It was narrated by Muslim (5/190) through the route of Iyās ibn Salamah: My father told me, saying: We came to al-Ḥudaybiyyah with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam); we were fourteen hundred, and there were fifty sheep that could not quench our thirst. He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sat on the edge of the well, and either he prayed or spat into it, and it gushed forth, so we drank and filled our vessels.
