in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (10/215) all from the route of Abū Burdah from Abū Mūsá who said: the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. *

- (Indeed, the month can be twenty-nine days). A mutawātir ḥadīth reported from a group of Companions: It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (1910 and 5202), Muslim (3/126), Ibn Mājah (2061), and Aḥmad (6/315), all from Umm Salamah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā): that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) vowed abstention from his wives for a month, and when twenty-nine days had passed, he went out—either in the morning or evening—and it was said to him: "You swore not to enter for a month?!" He replied: ... and he mentioned it. 2- It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (378, 1911, 5201, and 6684), al-Tirmidhī (690), Ibn Ḥibbān (4263), al-Bayhaqī (7/381), and Ibn Abī Shaybah (3/85), all from Anas ibn Mālik with a similar narration. 3- It was recorded by Muslim (3/125 and 4/194), al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (7/38) and in "al-Dalāʾil" (1/336), and Aḥmad (6/105, 163, and 243). In Muslim's version, the story of the vow is detailed, and it includes that ʿĀʾishah said: When twenty-nine nights had passed, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to me, starting with me.
