by Allāh! I will never abandon them after seeing the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) perform them. He said: ʿUmar sat with him and said: O Zayd! If I did not fear that people would take them as a means to pray until night, I would not have struck him for them. It was recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq in "al-Muṣannaf" (2/431-432) - and the context is his - and from him and others: Aḥmad (4/115), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (5/260/5166 and 67/51). Al-Haythamī said after attributing it to Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī: "And its isnād is good." I said: Abū Saʿd al-Aʿmā was not authenticated by anyone, not even Ibn Ḥibbān, and therefore al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Unknown." Perhaps al-Haythamī means it is good due to other supporting evidence, considering what has preceded. And Allāh knows best. This... and it has been narrated from ʿĀʾishah something that contradicts her previous approval, which is what al-Mughīrah narrated from Ibrāhīm from al-Aswad from ʿĀʾishah that she said: Would you strike for them?! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) never entered upon me except that he performed them.
