pray! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) only forbade your people, the people of Yemen, from praying when the sun rises. See "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Mawārid" (625). Then Aḥmad narrated another part of it (6/254). And from another perspective by Isrāʾīl, it is his prayer of the two rakʿahs of the afternoon. In the statement of ʿĀʾishah, there is a precious benefit not mentioned by the ḥāfiẓ in "Fatḥ al-Bārī," which is that ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) did not forbid the two rakʿahs after the afternoon prayer out of denial of their legitimacy, but rather as a precautionary measure, fearing that they might be prayed during the prohibited time, which is at sunset. There is supporting evidence for this from the narration of Tamīm al-Dārī and Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhanī, and the ḥāfiẓ remained silent about them in "al-Fatḥ" (2/65), and the isnād of Zayd was deemed sound by al-Haythamī, as will be mentioned. As for the ḥadīth of Tamīm; it is narrated by Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father who said: ʿUmar went out to the people, striking them for the two prostrations after the afternoon prayer, until he passed by (Tamīm al-Dārī), who said: I will not abandon them, I prayed them with someone better than you; the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)! ʿUmar said: If people were like you, I would not mind. It was narrated by Aḥmad (4/101) with an isnād whose men are trustworthy according to the standards of the two Shaykhs. But al-Haythamī said (2/222): "ʿUrwah did not hear from ʿUmar." However, it was narrated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ: He told me al-Layth from Abū al-Aswad from ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr that he said: Tamīm al-Dārī informed me—or I was informed—:
