When we reached Bayt al-Maqdis, Gabriel pointed with his finger, and the stone emerged, and he tied the Buraq to it. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3132), Ibn Ḥibbān (34 - Mawārid), and al-Ḥākim (2/360) through the route of Abū Tumaylah from al-Zubayr ibn Janādah from Ibn Buraydah from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic, and they did not record it. Abū Tumaylah and al-Zubayr are trustworthy Marwazis." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. As for al-Tirmidhī, he said: "It is ḥasan gharīb." The word "ḥasan" did not appear in some copies of it, nor did al-Mizzī mention it in "al-Tuḥfah." (Note): I had previously weakened the ḥadīth in some old comments, and when I divided the four Sunan into "authentic" and "weak," including "Sunan al-Tirmidhī," it required me to reconsider some of its ḥadīths, including this one. It became clear to me that it is authentic, and that al-Dhahabī's statement about (al-Zubayr ibn Janādah) in "al-Mughnī": "There is some unknownness about him!" and his indication of weakening Ibn Ḥibbān's authentication by saying in his biography in "al-Kāshif": "He is trustworthy!" and similarly, the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb": "Acceptable!"—all of this is outweighed in my view by Ibn Maʿīn's authentication of this al-Zubayr, especially when I saw that al-Dhahabī himself had criticized those who said: "There is some unknownness about him," meaning Ibn al-Jawzī, as if he had followed him in this statement, but when his mistake became clear to him, he retracted it; it seems he experienced what I experienced!
