and ʿAwn ibn ʿUmārah disagreed; he said: Khālid ibn Aḥmad narrated to us from ʿĀṣim from al-Shaʿbī from ʿĀʾishah with it. It was recorded by Abū al-Shaykh in "Ṭabaqāt al-Aṣbahānīyīn" (1/216/125). I said: And this ʿAwn is weak, but the narrator from him—ʿAlī ibn Bishr al-Umawī—is even weaker than him. Abū al-Shaykh said: "He was considered weak, he narrated from Yazīd ibn Hārūn from Yaḥyá from Anas in a marfūʿ ḥadīth: 'I saw a wolf in Paradise'!" Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "And this is one of his calamities." In summary; the ḥadīth from the first path from Ibn Masʿūd is ḥasan, and it is authentic through other paths and the supporting evidence from ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā). And indeed, I had included it in "Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ" due to my being misled by al-Munāwī, who quoted in "Fayḍ al-Qadīr" from al-Dāraqutnī that he weakened it in "al-Afrād"! Now that I have reviewed its isnād through "Aṭrāf" by Ibn Ṭāhir al-Maqdisī, and there is nothing in it that indicates its weakness, and even if we hypothetically accept it; it is refuted by what I mentioned of the reliability of its men, its paths, and its supporting evidence, and therefore I have transferred it from "Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ" to "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ". And Allāh, the Exalted, is the Patron of success; and I ask Him for more of His bounty!

— (When this verse was revealed: "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed if they fear [Allāh] and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear [Allāh] and believe, and then fear [Allāh] and do good; and Allāh loves the doers of good" (Sūrah al-Māʾidah, verse 93); he [meaning: Ibn Masʿūd] said to me: "It was said to me: You are among them"). It was recorded by Muslim (7/147), al-Tirmidhī (3053), and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā"
