Abū al-Aḥwaṣ narrated to us from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad, from ʿĀʾishah who said: I never saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fasting during the ten [days], nor did he leave the restroom without touching water. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (69/165 - al-Mawārid). I said: And this Yaḥyá was not authenticated by anyone other than Ibn Ḥān, but he said (9/264): "He used to narrate unusual things from Abū Nuʿaym." I said: And he recorded for him in his Ṣaḥīḥ only three ḥadīths; this is one of them, and the second ḥadīth has a follower. The third he paired with another trustworthy narrator, and it is in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, in an abbreviated form, and the second is also in al-Mawārid, and it contains a disapproved wording; as previously explained under ḥadīth (2757). For this reason, others have weakened him, and the ḥāfiẓ said: "His ḥadīth is weak." And among those who weakened him is his mixing between the ḥadīth of the translation and the ḥadīth of (fasting the ten); for this has been recorded by Muslim and others through chains from al-Aʿmash from Ibrāhīm with it. And Hanād ibn al-Sarī disagreed with him and said: Abū al-Aḥwaṣ narrated to us from Manṣūr with it without the second part. It was recorded by Ibn Mājah, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (2108).

It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/447): Wakīʿ narrated to us: al-Aʿmash narrated to us, he said: I (thus) Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah said: A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: So-and-so prays at night, but when he wakes up, he steals?!
