It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (12/407-408/13503). There is another chain; it is narrated by Saʿīd ibn Bashīr from Maṭar al-Warrāq from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar with it. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (8/332-333). I said: And it is a good chain for supporting evidence and follow-ups. There is supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah in a raised form. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd and others; authenticated by Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Dāraquṭnī, al-Ḥākim, and al-Dhahabī, and in its chain is an unknown [narrator], as I explained in "al-Irwāʾ" (8/34-35).

It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/189) from the route of Jābir from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Aswad from his father from ʿĀʾishah: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to... I said: The men of its chain are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs; except for this Jābir—he is Ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī—and he is weak. Al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (1/241): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, and in it is Jābir al-Juʿfī, whom Shuʿbah and Sufyān considered trustworthy, but most people weakened him." I said: There is a sound mursal supporting evidence, narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (1/193): Jareer narrated to us from Manṣūr from Ibrāhīm who said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) did not enter the lavatory except that he performed ablution, or wiped with water. I said: And this is a sound mursal chain, its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs. And some weak narrators have narrated it as connected; Yaḥyá ibn Ṭalḥah al-Yarbuʿī said:
