I said: This is a connected isnād with apparent authenticity, and its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs. However, it has a defect, which is that the word "I" was altered by the copyist and the printer, and the correct version is: "I see Abū Ṣāliḥ mentioned it from Abū Hurayrah." This is how it was narrated by Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-ʿAbsi in "Ḥadīth Wakiʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ" (manuscript of al-Ẓāhiriyyah, folio 134/1), and through him: al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (3/174/3261). It is supported by the fact that al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr mentioned it in his "Tafsīr" (3/415) from the narration of Aḥmad with his mentioned isnād from al-Aʿmash who said: I see Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah... etc. Perhaps the word "mentioned it" was omitted by the copyist. For further verification: I referred to "Aṭrāf al-Musnad" by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿAsqalānī; I saw that he cited the ḥadīth (7/193/447) following another ḥadīth with a different isnād from Abū Ṣāliḥ—meaning from Abū Hurayrah. Then he cited this isnād to al-Aʿmash saying: "from him with it," but he did not cite it in full for us to ascertain how the isnād appeared in his version of "al-Musnad"?! A similar statement is made by al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (2/258): "Narrated by Aḥmad, and al-Bazzār, and its narrators are the narrators of (al-Ṣaḥīḥ)!" However, elsewhere he provided similar information to what was previously mentioned about Ibn Kathīr, saying (7/89): "Narrated by Aḥmad, and its narrators are the narrators of 'al-Ṣaḥīḥ'; except that al-Aʿmash said: I see Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah." In summary; this and what preceded it clarifies that what is in "al-Musnad" where al-Aʿmash said: "I" is an alteration by some of the copyists, and Allāh knows best
