"Abū Maryam, the client of Abū Hurayrah, was a trustworthy Syrian follower." The ḥāfiẓ relied on this and said in "al-Taqrīb": "Trustworthy." From this, you learn that the statement of Ibn al-Qaṭṭān mentioned in "Fayḍ al-Qadīr": "This ḥadīth is not authentic because it includes Abū Maryam, the client of Abū Hurayrah, whose status is unknown. Then it was said: he is one man, and it was said: two men, and in any case, his or their status is unknown, so such a ḥadīth is not authentic." is refuted by al-ʿAjlī's authentication of him, and a group has narrated from him as in "al-Tahdhīb" and by Aḥmad's statement: "I saw the people of Ḥimṣ praising him," and in another narration from him: "He is righteous and well-known to us." It was said to him: "Is this the one who narrates from Abū Hurayrah?" He said: "Yes." Ibn ʿAsākir mentioned him. (Note): In the version of "Sunan Abī Dāwūd" corrected by Shaykh Muḥammad Muḥyī al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd, it appears as (Ibn Abī Maryam), but the correct version is (Abī Maryam) as we mentioned.
- "Fear Allāh regarding these mute animals; ride them while they are sound and eat them while they are sound." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (no. 2448) through the chain of Muḥammad ibn Muhājir from Rabīʿah ibn Zayd from Abū Kabshah al-Sulūlī from Sahl ibn al-Ḥanẓaliyyah who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed by a camel whose back had joined its belly, and he said:" and then mentioned it. I said: Its chain is authentic as al-Nawawī said in "al-Riyāḍ" and al-Munāwī confirmed it
