- "Beware of taking the backs of your animals as pulpits, for Allāh the Exalted has only subjected them to you to carry you to a land you would not reach except with great difficulty, and He has made the earth for you, so fulfill your needs upon it." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (no. 2567), and from him by al-Bayhaqī (5/255), and Abū al-Qāsim al-Samarqandī in "Majlis 128 of al-Amālī," and from him by Ibn ʿAsākir (19/85/1) through two chains from Yaḥyā ibn Abī ʿAmr al-Saybānī from Abū Maryam from Abū Hurayrah, attributed [to the Prophet]. I say: This is a sound chain. Yaḥyā ibn Abī ʿAmr al-Saybānī—with an open mīm and a silent yāʾ followed by a bāʾ—is trustworthy. In the biography of Abū Maryam in "al-Tahdhīb," it is written as "al-Shaybānī" with a dotted shīn, which is an error. And Abū Maryam, al-ʿAjlī said in "al-Thiqāt" (p. 94 of al-Subkī's arrangement):
