Shujāʿ ibn al-Walīd said: I heard Ziyād ibn Khaythamah narrating from his father from Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. And he said: "The isnād is authentic, and neither of them [al-Bukhārī nor Muslim] included it," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: It is as they said; its narrators are trustworthy and mentioned in "al-Tahdhīb," except for those below Abū Badr. As for Aḥmad ibn Yūnus al-Ḍabbī; Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (1/1/81): "We heard from him, and his position with us was one of honesty." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (8/51), and said: "The people of Aṣbahān narrated from him." He has a biography in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (1/81), "Tārīkh Baghdād" (5/223-224), and "Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ" (12/595-596). As for Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Zāhid al-Aṣbahānī; he is al-Ṣaffār, from whom al-Ḥākim narrated extensively, and al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī described him in "al-Aʿlām" (15/437) as: "the exemplary imām and muḥaddith..." The ḥadīth has supporting narrations: one of them is from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it with some abbreviation, and said at the end: "They do not fear when people fear, nor do they grieve when people grieve," then he recited this verse: "Behold! Verily on the friends of Allāh there is no fear, nor shall they grieve." (Yūnus, 62)
