from the route of Isrāʾīl from al-Suddī who said: I asked Murrah al-Hamdānī about the saying of Allāh (And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed) (Sūrah Maryam, verse 71). He told me that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd narrated to them from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and mentioned it. The first addition is for Aḥmad and Abū Yaʿlá. The second is for al-Tirmidhī and Abū Yaʿlá. al-Dārimī and Aḥmad said "from her." al-Tirmidhī said: "A good ḥadīth." al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: It is as they said, and perhaps al-Tirmidhī's limitation is due to the fact that Shuʿbah narrated it from al-Suddī as a mawqūf [report]. al-Tirmidhī extracted it. But Imām Aḥmad said: (1/433): ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us from Shuʿbah from al-Suddī from Murrah from ʿAbd Allāh who said: (And there is none of you except he will come to it) (Sūrah Maryam, verse 71)? He said: They will enter it or penetrate it, then they will emerge from it according to their deeds. I said to him: Did Isrāʾīl narrate it from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)? He said: Yes, it is from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), or words to this effect. al-Tirmidhī also extracted it from this perspective, except that he said: "Shuʿbah said: And I heard it from al-Suddī as elevated. But I deliberately leave it." Thus, it is confirmed that the ḥadīth is elevated, and Shuʿbah's omission of elevating it does not affect it as long as his teacher al-Suddī [narrated it]
(٢٥٥ / ١) من طريق إسرائيل عن السدي قال: سألت مرة الهمداني عن قول الله ﷿ (وإن منكم إلا واردها كان على ربك حتما مقضيا) ؟ فحدثني أن عبد الله بن مسعود حدثهم عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: فذكره. والزيادة الأولى لأحمد وأبي يعلى. والثانية للترمذي وأبي يعلى. وقال الدارمي وأحمد " عنها ". وقال الترمذي: " حديث حسن ". وقال الحاكم: " صحيح على شرط مسلم ". ووافقه الذهبي. قلت: وهو كما قالا، ولعل اقتصار الترمذي. إنما هو بسبب أن شعبة قد رواه عن السدي به موقوفا. أخرجه الترمذي. لكن قال الإمام أحمد: (١ / ٤٣٣) : حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن شعبة عن السدي عن مرة عن عبد الله قال: (وإن منكم إلا واردها) ؟ قال: يدخلونها أو يلجونها، ثم يصدرون منها بأعمالهم. قلت له: إسرائيل حدثه عن النبي ﷺ؟ قال: نعم، هو عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو كلاما هذا معناه. وأخرجه الترمذي أيضا من هذا الوجه إلا أنه قال:" قال شعبة: وقد سمعته من السدي مرفوعا. ولكني عمدا أدعه ". فصح أن الحديث مرفوع، وترك شعبة رفعه، لا يعله ما دام أن شيخه السدي.
