and al-Mukhallaṣ in "al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqāh" (8/4/1), Ibn Ḥibbān in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (2/230-231), al-Ḥākim (2/6), al-Dāraqutnī in "al-Sunan" (3/7/17), as well as al-Bayhaqī (5/266), and "al-Shuʿab" also (2/86/1230 and 4/221/4850), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (8/192/7390) through the route of Kathīr ibn Hishām: narrated to us by Kulthūm ibn Jawshan al-Qushayrī from Ayyūb from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. The addition is by al-Dāraqutnī and Ibn Ḥibbān; and he said: "Kulthūm ibn Jawshan narrates from reliable narrators the inverted [ḥadīths], and from reliable narrators the fabricated [ḥadīths]!" Thus he said! This is from his exaggerations and overstatements, for he also mentioned him in "Thiqāt" (7/356), which is more accurate, as Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (3/164): "I asked my father about Kulthūm ibn Jawshan? He said: weak in ḥadīth." It was narrated from Ibn Maʿīn that he said: "There is no harm in him." Al-Bukhārī considered him reliable; as in "Tahdhīb al-Ḥāfiẓ" and others, so he is moderately good in ḥadīth, if Allāh wills. And when al-Ḥākim said after the ḥadīth: "This Kulthūm is from Basra, with few ḥadīths." al-Dhahabī did not follow up on him in "Talkhīṣ"; except by saying: "I said: Abū Ḥātim weakened him." However, in "al-Mīzān" he strengthened him, saying in his biography:
والمخلَّص في "الفوائد المنتقاة" (٨/٤/١)، وابن حبان في "الضعفاء " (٢/ ٢٣٠- ٢٣١)، والحاكم (٢/٦)، والدارقطني في " السنن " (٣/٧/١٧)، وكذا البيهقي (٥/٢٦٦)، و"الشعب " أيضاً (٢/٨٦/١٢٣٠ و٤/ ٢٢١/٤٨٥٠)، والطبراني في "المعجم الأوسط" (٨/١٩٢/٧٣٩٠) من طريق كثير بن هشام: ثنا كلثوم بن جوشن القشيري عن أيوب عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ!: ... فذكره. والزيادة للدارقطني، وابن حبان؛ وقال:"كلثوم بن جوشن يروي عن الثقات المقلوبات، وعن الثقات الموضوعات "! كذا قال! وهو من غُلْوائه ومبالغاته، فقد ذكره أيضاً في "ثقاته " (٧/٣٥٦)، وهو أقرب، فقد قال ابن أبي حاتم (٣/ ١٦٤) :"سألت أبي عن كلثوم بن جوشن؟ فقال: ضعيف الحديث ". وروى عن ابن معين أنه قال:"ليس به بأس ". ووثقه البخاري؛ كما في "تهذيب الحافظ " وغيره، فهو وسط حسن الحديث إن شاء الله تعالى. والحاكم لما قال عقب الحديث:"كلثوم هذا بصري قليل الحديث ". لم يتعقبه الذهبي في "تلخيصه "؛ إلا بقوله:"قلت: ضعفه أبو حاتم ". ولكنه في "الميزان " قواه، فقال في ترجمته:
