al-Kabīr" (17/318/882) from various chains from al-Layth, from al-Ḥārith ibn Yaʿqūb, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Shamāsah: that Faqīm al-Lakhmī said to ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir: "You go back and forth between these two targets; and you are old, does it not tire you?!" ʿUqbah said: "If it were not for a statement I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), I would not have assisted." al-Ḥārith said: "So I said to Ibn Shamāsah: 'And what is that?'" He said: "He said: ..." and he mentioned the ḥadīth, and the context is from Muslim. Ibn Lahīʿah corroborated him from al-Ḥārith ibn Yaʿqūb with it. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥakam in "Futūḥ Miṣr" (p. 292). And in the narration of Abū ʿAwānah and al-Ṭabarānī, it does not include: "... or he has disobeyed." al-Ḥāfiẓ did not mention it in "al-Talkhīṣ al-Ḥabīr" (4/166) in the ḥadīth; and he attributed it to Muslim; so perhaps he indicated by that the preference of the first wording: "he is not from us" without the doubt.
