the Messenger of Allāh looked at the Kaʿbah and said: "There is no deity but Allāh, how good you are, and how pleasant is your fragrance, and how great is your sanctity! Yet the believer has greater sanctity than you..." The ḥadīth is similar to this. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (11/37/10966). Its isnād is weak, but it is not severely weak, so it can be used as supporting evidence. There is a corroborating narration from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr—or Ibn ʿUmar—elevated [to the Prophet]. It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (3933) through the route of Naṣr ibn Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Ḥimṣī: Thana my father: Thana ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Qays al-Naṣrī: Thana ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr who said: I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) circumambulating the Kaʿbah and saying: ... and he mentioned it. Its narrators are trustworthy; except for this Naṣr, who was weakened by Abū Ḥātim, but authenticated by Ibn Ḥibbān, and it was criticized by al-ʿIrāqī in "Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ" (4/141), and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak." I say: but it is strengthened by the ḥadīth of the chapter at least. This; and I had previously weakened this ḥadīth of Ibn Mājah in some of my extractions and comments before "Shuʿab al-Īmān" was printed. When I reviewed its isnād therein and found it to be good, I hastened to extract it here to clear my conscience and advise the ummah, praying: (Our Lord, do not hold us accountable if we forget or make a mistake), and based on this; the ḥadīth is moved from "Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" and "Ḍaʿīf Sunan Ibn Mājah" to "Ṣaḥīḥ of both." *
