"he has few narrations, and his only flaw was his confusion in old age, but he was not attributed with weakness; because the amount he narrates is sound and not objectionable, except that something might enter his narration after he changed and became confused." I said: Two matters indicate the soundness of this ḥadīth and that he preserved it: the first is the corroboration of Hishām ibn Ḥassān, previously mentioned by ʿAbd al-Razzāq. The second is that it has supporting evidence, and I will mention some of it: 1- Abū Ḥassān said: I said to Abū Hurayrah: Two of my sons have died, so what ḥadīth can you narrate to us from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that will comfort us about our deceased? He said: Yes, "Their young ones are the little birds of Paradise, one of them meets his father—or he said: his parents—and takes hold of his garment—or he said: his hand—as I am taking hold of the hem of your garment, and he does not let go—or he said: he does not stop—until Allāh admits him and his father into Paradise." It was recorded by Muslim (8/40) and Aḥmad (2/510). Al-Bukhārī narrated part of it in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (47/145) up to the words: "Your young ones are the little birds of Paradise." 2- Ibn Sīrīn also said: al-Zubayr brought his son ʿAbd Allāh to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "There are no two believers who have three children die but that Allāh will admit them to Paradise, and He will say to them: Enter Paradise, and they will say: And our parents?! It will be said to them the third time: And your parents." It was recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq (11/139/20138), and its chain of transmission is reliable; thus, it is a sound mursal ḥadīth
