from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. The second part of it was narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (8/344/5430), and from him by Abū Dāwūd (4779), and al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (2/253-254). The first part of it has a supporting narration from Anas ibn Mālik, elevated: it was extracted by al-Bazzār (1/406/860) with a sound chain of transmission. It was also extracted by Abū Yaʿlá (6/133/3408) from another route from him along with the other part. Its chain is weak. It has—meaning: the first part—a second supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah, elevated. It was extracted by Abū Yaʿlá (10/6032 and 6046) from the route of Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar from Hishām from Ibn Sīrīn from him. Its chain is sound. A third supporting narration from Buraydah, elevated ... and it includes a story. It was extracted by al-Bazzār (1/405/857) with a good chain; as al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "Mukhtaṣar al-Zawāʾid" (1/345/554), and it was authenticated by al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī, and it is included in "Aḥkām al-Janāʾiz" (207-208, Maʿārif edition). (Note): al-Bukhārī and Abū Yaʿlá added in the beginning of the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd a third section with the text: "Which of you loves his wealth more than the wealth of his heir?" They said: "O Messenger of Allāh! There is none among us but loves his wealth more than the wealth of his heir!" He said: "Be aware of what you say!" They said: "We know only that, O Messenger of Allāh!" He said: "There is none among you but loves the wealth of his heir more than his own wealth!"
