then some of the people said: O Messenger of Allāh! Is there anyone upon whom an angel stands with a club in his hand who would not be terrified by that?! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Allāh keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (3/3-4): Abū ʿĀmir narrated to us: ʿAbbād ibn Rāshid narrated from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind from Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī who said: I attended a funeral with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. It was also recorded by Ibn Jarīr in "al-Tafsīr" (13/143), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (2/417-418/865), and al-Bazzār (1/412-413) through two other chains from Abū ʿĀmir ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿAmr. I say: This isnād is authentic as al-Mundhirī stated (4/183/10), and he attributed it to Aḥmad. Al-Haythamī said (3/38): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Bazzār, and its men are the men of (al-Ṣaḥīḥ)." I say: There is a slight issue with ʿAbbād ibn Rāshid, but it does not harm [the authenticity]. Ibn Kathīr indicated this by saying in his "Tafsīr" following Aḥmad's narration (2/533): "This isnād is acceptable; for ʿAbbād ibn Rāshid al-Tamīmī was narrated by al-Bukhārī in conjunction, but some weakened him." Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mughnī": "Truthful and cautious." Likewise, al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb," and he added: "He has some errors."
