ʿĀmir: Thana al-Rabīʿ: Ḥaddathanī Muḥammad ibn Muhājir from Yūnus ibn Ḥalbas from Abū Idrīs from Abū al-Dardāʾ who said: the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed by a people’s refuse heap, in which there was a dead lamb, and he said, "Do its owners have no need for it?" They said, "O Messenger of Allāh! If its owners had any need for it, they would not have discarded it." He said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic; all its narrators are trustworthy according to the standards of the two Shaykhs, except for Muḥammad ibn ʿĀmir—who is al-Anṭākī—about whom a group of ḥadīth scholars, including al-Nasāʾī, narrated; and he said, "Trustworthy." The ḥāfiẓ said the same. The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (4/101/39) from the narration of Abū al-Dardāʾ, and he said: "It was narrated by al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' from the narration of Ibn ʿUmar with a similar meaning, and their narrators are trustworthy." Al-Haythamī also said the same (10/278); however, he attributed it to "al-Awsaṭ" as well, and it is with him (3/433/2934), and in it is (Suqayr), the father of (Bakkār), and none declared him trustworthy except Ibn Ḥibbān (4/350), and none narrated from him except his son, and it does not contain the statement: "So do not let me find it has destroyed any of you..." etc. There are many ḥadīths without this addition from a group of Companions, a portion of which I have extracted in "al-Ṣaḥīḥah" (2482). Then I reconsidered and said: Al-Bazzār said after the ḥadīth: "This ḥadīth has been narrated from various angles, and the highest of those who narrated it is Abū al-Dardāʾ, and its isnād is authentic and Shāmī, and it contains the addition: 'So do not let me find it has destroyed any of you...'..." *******
