Ibn Sahl said: Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī narrated to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Rabīʿah al-Kilābī narrated from ʿUthmān ibn Wāqid from Muslim (!) ibn Yasār from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This is a good isnād; all its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb," and there is some criticism that does not harm; except for al-Ṭabarānī's shaykh—who is Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī as in the first of his ḥadīths that al-Ṭabarānī included in "al-Awsaṭ" (8367). Al-Dāraqutnī said about him: "Trustworthy" as in his biography in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (13/56-57) and this was hidden from Shaykh al-Haythamī, who said (6/255): "Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" from his shaykh Mūsá ibn Sahl; I did not know him, and the rest of the men are trustworthy"! (Note): The follower of this ḥadīth (Muslim ibn Yasār); this is how it appeared in the printed "al-Awsaṭ"! And I think the correct name is (Mūsá ibn Yasār); because he is the one mentioned among the shaykhs of ʿUthmān ibn Wāqid, and among the narrators from Abū Hurayrah, not (Muslim ibn Yasār), and both are trustworthy followers, and it also appeared in the manuscript I have. Al-Ṭabarānī said after the ḥadīth: "No one narrated it from Muslim ibn Yasār except ʿUthmān ibn Wāqid, and Muḥammad ibn Rabīʿah was unique in narrating it"! And Allāh knows best *******
