(Whoever unjustly seizes a man's land will meet Allāh while He is angry with him). It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (22/18/25): narrated to us by Ṭālib ibn Qurrā al-Adanī: narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsá al-Ṭabbāʿ. (ḥ) And narrated to us by al-Ḥusayn ibn Isḥāq al-Tustarī: narrated to us by Yaḥyá al-Ḥammānī, both said: narrated to us by Abū ʿAwānah from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr from ʿAlqamah ibn Wāthil from his father who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said:....... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic, its narrators are trustworthy according to the criteria of Muslim from the route of al-Ḥammānī, and even though he was accused of stealing ḥadīth; he was followed from the first route by Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsá al-Ṭabbāʿ, who is a trustworthy jurist, as al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb". This important corroboration was hidden from al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (3/54/7), then from al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (4/176) who mentioned the ḥadīth from ʿAbd Allāh ﵁ with the mentioned wording; and they said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī from the narration of Yaḥyá ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥammānī." Al-Haythamī added: "He is weak, though he has been deemed trustworthy, and there is much discussion about him." Then they erred in attributing the ḥadīth to (ʿAbd Allāh), and they were followed by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Nājī, who began to interpret this attribution saying (Q 167/2): "It appears that it is Ibn Masʿūd; for he is meant when mentioned unconditionally"! His teacher al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿAsqalānī confirmed this, saying in his "Mukhtaṣar" selected from "al-Targhīb" (177/658): "And from ʿAbd Allāh—meaning: Ibn Masʿūd—..." and he mentioned the ḥadīth!
